HAEMS Paramedics Attend Cardiac Training

On October 20 and 21st 2011 Harleysville Area EMS Paramedics attended an exciting and state of the art workshop at Reading Hospital. The workshop showed HAEMS Medics new yet proven techniques for detecting cardiac issues while patients are hooked up to HAEMS heart monitoring equipment.

The workshop was presented by internationally acclaimed and award winning instructor Bob Page who also happens to be a Paramedic. “It’s important for our Paramedics to stay abreast of new treatment techniques and methods as part of ensuring that our patients receive the best possible pre-hospital care. The care we provide in the ambulance to cardiac patients can and does have significant impact on their future health and well being,” Don Lynch, Chief of Harleysville Area EMS. Chief Lynch continued, “We are always on the lookout for training sessions like this and hope to host further workshops like this ourselves for our EMT’s and members of the community in 2012.”

Eight of Harleysville Area EMS’s eleven Paramedics were able to attend the workshop with the others being scheduled for later sessions. Those in attendance included Andrew Calhoun, Steve Schwarz, Peter LoRe, Tim McAteer, Nicole McLeod, Dave Chadwick, Beth Sheeran, and Chief Lynch.
