It is usually cause for alarm when an ambulance arrives at a school, but not at Hopwood School and Camp in Towamencin, PA recently. Harleysville Area EMS Paramedic Nicole McCleod and EMT Michael Antonucci traveled to the school to spend some time with students and staff. “We love getting out into the community especially schools like this one and taking time out to answer questions and take away some of the fears kids might have about the Ambulance,” Chief Don Lynch, Harleysville Area EMS. Lynch continued, “HAEMS has made a point over the years to have our crews go out a few times a year into local schools and daycares to allow kids the opportunity to get to know us a little better. Nicole and Mike are expanding on this as part of our Community Outreach Programs and are doing an excellent job.”
Paramedic McCleod and EMT Antonucci brought in their ambulance’s stretcher and heart monitor while speaking with kids on how and when to use 911 to bring first responders to the rescue. Ambulance coloring books were also handed out to the kids at the end of the presentation. If you or your organization is interested in having a Harleysville Area EMS Ambulance and Crew come out for an educational presentation please contact Chief Lynch at
