      <title>HAEMS Promotes New Line Officers</title>

        <![CDATA[<p>On Wednesday November 9, 2011 Harleysville Area Emergency Medical Services (HAEMS) expanded its leadership ranks with the addition of four new line officers. After a more than month long selection and interview process HAEMS announced the following promotions:</p><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;Paramedic Andrew Calhoun to Captain</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><b>Captain Calhoun</b> has been an employee of HAEMS for more than five years in addition to his more than 15 years of experience as an EMT and Paramedic. Capt. Calhoun currently assists Chief Donald Lynch in support of several squad initiatives related tracking the increases in HAEMS call volume. Capt. Calhoun is also a two time Cancer survivor.</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">EMT Robert Roy to Captain,</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><b>Captain Roy </b>has been an employee of HAEMS for more than ten years in addition to his more than 20 years as a Fire Fighter. Capt. Roy plays an integral role in the support HAEMS fleet as well as the squad&rsquo;s annual membership drive. Capt. Roy is a proud father of three.</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">Paramedic Tim McAteer to Lieutenant,</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><b>Lieutenant McAteer</b> has been an employee of HAEMS for almost ten years in addition to almost 15 years of experience as an EMT / Paramedic. Lt. McAteer currently is responsible for HAEMS training initiatives as well as playing an important role in Quality Assurance. Lt. McAteer is also the lead Paramedic for the North Penn Tactical Team.</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">EMT Kevin Wasson to Lieutenant.&nbsp;</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><b>Lieutenant Wasson</b> has been a member of the HAEMS team for four years. Lt. Wasson has assisted Chief Lynch with a variety of initiatives over the last 12 months including leading an initiative to reorganize HAEMS&rsquo;s supply chain. Lt. Wasson is also a full time college student at De Sales University.</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><b>&nbsp;</b></div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">All four were put through a rigorous interview process that included an interview board made up of outside First Responder professionals. More than eleven current EMT&rsquo;s and Paramedics interviewed for the positions. All four Officers will support the administrative operations of HAEMS which has experienced more than a 10% increase in call volume for the last three years.</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;</div><div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt">&ldquo;I have been Chief of Operations since January and quickly realized that I was going to need help in accomplishing my goals for HAEMS. I know the Board of Directors and I were very impressed by the group of people that expressed interest in becoming Officers. The selection process used to identify the four was excellent and I want to thank all those that participated. HAEMS and the Harleysville community will most certainly benefit from the addition of these people to my Officer team,&rdquo; Chief Don Lynch. All four were be promoted by Chief Donald Lynch during a brief ceremony on November 9, 2001 at the Lower Salford Township Building.</div><p style="text-align: center"><img width="400" height="300" alt="" src="http://www.haems.org/imgs/officer%20promotions.JPG" /></p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p><span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt">On October 20 and 21<sup>st</sup> 2011 Harleysville Area EMS Paramedics attended an exciting and state of the art workshop at Reading Hospital. The workshop showed HAEMS Medics new yet proven techniques for detecting cardiac issues while patients are hooked up to HAEMS heart monitoring equipment. </span></p><p>&nbsp;<span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt">The workshop was presented by internationally acclaimed and award winning instructor Bob Page who also happens to be a Paramedic. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s important for our Paramedics to stay abreast of new treatment techniques and methods as part of ensuring that our patients receive the best possible pre-hospital care. The care we provide in the ambulance to cardiac patients can and does have significant impact on their future health and well being,&rdquo; Don Lynch, Chief of Harleysville Area EMS. Chief Lynch continued, &ldquo;We are always on the lookout for training sessions like this and hope to host further workshops like this ourselves for our EMT&rsquo;s and members of the community in 2012.&rdquo;</span></p><div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt"><span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt">Eight of Harleysville Area EMS&rsquo;s eleven Paramedics were able to attend the workshop with the others being scheduled for later sessions. Those in attendance included Andrew Calhoun, Steve Schwarz, Peter LoRe, Tim McAteer, Nicole McLeod, Dave Chadwick, Beth Sheeran, and Chief Lynch.</span></div><p style="text-align: center"><img alt="" width="400" height="300" src="http://www.haems.org/imgs/Group%20Photo%20with%20Bob%20Page.jpg" /></p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]>
